My Priorities
I grew up in Bozeman, I graduated from MSU, and now I work for Gallatin County and represent House District 59 in the legislature. Montana is my home, but in recent years it has been hard to recognize.
From young people who fear the next rent increase to families who can’t imagine buying a home to homeowners squeezed by property taxes: people across the state are struggling. Meanwhile some of the wealthiest corporations and people in the country have worked to rewrite the rules to receive tax cuts and special treatment.
This is not how it has to be.
I believe in a Montana where everyone has their basic needs met, where we steward the lands that take care of us, and where everyone pitches in and pays their fare share. I am bringing a new generation of leadership to Helena to make this vision a reality.
Affordable Housing
Rent and house prices have skyrocketed, and all of us are feeling the squeeze. This problem is personal for me: my family relied on subsidized housing when I was young. Today, I still wonder how long I will be able to afford to stay here. Our community only works when the people who call it home can see a real future for themselves here. I will fight for policies which create a truly affordable future for tenants and homeowners:
Invest in more affordable housing: I support investing state dollars into effective housing programs which support both the creation of new affordable housing and the people and families struggling to pay for housing.
Property taxes shouldn’t push people out of their homes: homeowners have seen huge jumps in property taxes over the past several years which is straining budgets. We should not be forcing homeowners and renters to shoulder and unfair amount of our state’s tax burden.
Protect tenants: I support protecting tenants from unfair practices (like corporate landlords ignoring maintenance needs while increasing the rent) and believe strongly in protecting people’s right to organize together for a decent place to live.
I grew up playing in the open lands and mountains near Bozeman, drinking clean water from Sourdough Creek, and breathing clean air. My future children and future generations deserve the same; it is our responsibility to steward the land we rely on and love. Climate change is here and it is an existential threat to our health, our livelihoods, and our environment. We must take bold action to secure a sustainable, healthy future for Montanans.
Move Montana to an affordable, renewable energy grid: we need to improve and transform our grid to become more efficient, cheaper, and zero-carbon as fast as possible. This is not primarily a technology or economics problem any more, it’s a problem of political will. I will be a strong, clear voice for climate action and a truly reliable energy future in the Legislature.
Moratorium on data center construction: I support a moratorium on data center construction in Montana until Montana has strong, enforceable protections for our water, our grid, and the people who pay the utility bills (i.e. us).
Keep public lands in public hands: I will oppose attempts to sell off public lands to private interests. Our home is not an asset to be carved up between the billionaires of the Yellowstone Club.

Fair and Equitable Tax System
Year after year, State Leaders have chosen to pad the pockets of the most powerful corporations and people with tax cuts while they turn around and tell us there’s not enough money for the rest of us. There is more than enough wealth in Montana for everyone to have an affordable, dignified existence. I will fight for a fair and equitable tax system that asks the wealthiest and most successful among us to pay their share while reducing the burden on working people and homeowners.
Restore top income tax brackets for households earning more than $500,000 a year. In 2025 the Legislature rewrote the rules to benefit the wealthy minority. The rules can be written back by restoring the progressive income tax brackets we had.
No statewide sales tax, ever. Governor Gianforte’s proposal for a statewide sales tax will force more of tax burden onto the Montanans with the least wealth. I will fight to kill this proposal any time it arises in Helena.
Fund vital programs and services: by asking those who have benefited the most from our state's economy to contribute fairly, we can lower costs for everyday Montanans while investing in affordable housing, strong public schools, quality healthcare, reliable infrastructure, and public safety.

I believe the most effective leadership starts with listening, and I believe those closest to the problem are closest to the solution.
